WHAT’S NEW
Benefits to fit your life
In 2027, we're expanding M&T benefits and enhancing resources to better support you and your family. Here's a sneak peek at what's new and changing as you prepare for Open Enrollment.
Healthcare
Three Medical Plan Options
- NEW! Basic HDHP (high-deductible health plan) with a Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Core HDHP with an HSA (current plan)
- NEW! Premier PPO (preferred provider organization)
The plans differ in what you pay (employee premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums), how care is covered (copays, coinsurance and network requirements) and HSA eligibility.
Note: Use Aetna DocFind to confirm your providers participate in the network (Aetna Choice® POS II (Open Access)). If you are considering the Premier PPO, look for preferred providers with the Quality & Effective Care badge to lower your out-of-pocket costs.
Discount on Prescription Drugs
Save on Wegovy® when prescribed for non-diabetes conditions through CVS Caremark®, with additional savings opportunities available for certain non-covered medications.
Employee Premiums
- Your bi-weekly medical premiums will change for 2027 based on the plan you choose and who you cover
- Basic HDHP: Higher deductible plan in exchange for significantly reduced employee premiums.
- Core HDHP (current plan): Moderate employee premium increases.
- Premier PPO: Higher premiums in exchange for copays (flat fees) for most services and no deductible when you use preferred providers.
- Your bi-weekly vision premium will increase by approximately 5%.
- Dental plan premiums will remain unchanged.
Working Spouse or Domestic Partner Surcharge
To help support the long-term sustainability of our benefits program, a $50 per-pay-period surcharge will apply if your working spouse or domestic partner has access to other employer-sponsored medical coverage but enrolls in an M&T medical plan.
Supplemental Health Benefits
Add extra financial protection with two new plans designed to help you manage unexpected expenses.
- Critical Illness Plan: Receive cash benefits for a covered serious illness (such as cancer, a heart attack, stroke or severe burn) to help pay for medical expenses, travel costs and other related expenses.
EXTRA BENEFIT! The Critical Illness Plan pays you $50 when you and your covered family members get a health screening. The benefit is paid one time for each family member per plan year. If you enroll a family of four, you can get $200 each plan year.
- Accident Plan: Receive cash benefits for covered accidental injuries (such as a fracture, burn or laceration), testing, treatment and related services to help pay for medical expenses and other out-of-pocket costs.
Note: M&T will provide both plans at no cost to employees who enroll in the Basic HDHP and earn less than $100,000 per year.
Spending Accounts
The IRS has increased HSA contribution limits for 2027. Contribution limits for the MRA, LPFSA and DCRA remain the same:
- Health Savings Account (HSA): $4,500 for employee-only coverage and $9,000 for other coverage levels, plus a $1,000 catch-up contribution if you'll be age 55 or older in 2027.
- Medical Reimbursement Account (MRA) and Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (LPFSA): Up to $3,400.
- Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA): Up to $7,500 for single individuals and married couples filing jointly, or $3,750 for married individuals filing separately.
GOOD NEWS! M&T will continue contributing to your HSA if you enroll in the Basic HDHP or Core HDHP based on eligibility, frozen earnings and coverage level. Part-time employees earning less than $40,000 and working 10 to 29 hours per week will receive $500, regardless of coverage level.
Health Support
Surgery & Cancer Centers of Excellence
When you enroll in an M&T medical plan, you'll have access to top-quality providers for certain complex surgeries (e.g., bariatric, spine, cardiac), cancer treatment, transplants and other specialized care needs, plus individualized support to help guide you every step of the way.
